Face to Face with Young Marxist Obama
"I was going through some old photos and found this picture of me graduating from Occidental College back on June 9, 1979. As you can see, I'm wearing a red arm band. I was doing this to protest Occidental College's investments in South Africa. The fellow handing me my diploma was Occidental College president Richard C. Gilman. As I've written before, I was one of the founders of the anti-apartheid group that President Obama mentions in his book, Dreams of My Father."
Lonely MA Republican Poly Sci Professor
"As a young assistant professor, I was only one of three registered Republicans on the faculty. While I was there, I was friendly with two of the socialist professors who shaped the early intellectual life of Barack Obama while he was at Occidental College in Los Angeles - Professors Roger Boesche and Carlos Egan. I had known both Boesche and Egan when they were political science professors at Occidental College, my undergraduate institution."
Here are a couple video interviews of other people that were there the day of the apartheid speech or who knew Obama at the time:
"Personally, I witnessed the damage caused by affirmative action face-to-face as objectively more qualified white faculty candidates were discriminated against in favor of African-Americans without comparable publication or research records. I complained about this injustice at the time...stressing the idea that affirmative action took away the honor of being a Williams College professor."
Breitbart B-TV Interview with John Drew summarized below:
John Drew became a Marxist while studying abroad at the University of Sussex during his junior year at college. He wrote his honors thesis on Marxist economics .
John Drew began his transformation from Marxism to Libertarianism while he was researching the rise of welfare states in 1984. Marxists viewed the rise of the welfare state as part of a class struggle. Instead, Drew found it was child labor laws that took source of security from working
He met Obama via girlfriend Caroline "Gross-Grauman.”. Caroline and Barak were taking political theory classes from Roger Boesche at Occidental. Caroline introduced Barak as “One of us,” part of the revolutionary elite that was going to turn around country when socialist revolution hit.
Barak was not idle explorer of intellectual Marxism. He was a Marxist-Leninist. He believed that there was a revolutionary class that going to transform the nation by redistributing wealth and taking over private property. He did not simply hang around with Marxist professors as described in his book. He was in absolute agreement with his Marxist professors.
While a student at Occidental and Cornell, John Drew did not take being a Marxist lightly. He considered himself an enemy of the US Government and of the wealthy ruling class. Drew’s nuanced view of Marxism differed from Obama’s simplistic view. His vision of Marxism matured at Cornell. He was pessimistic that there would be a revolution in an industrialized society based on the experience of France and Germany.
In this post below, Drew credits his talk with the young Barak Obama regarding his naive view of Marxist revolution with Barks decision to leave Occidental.
Face to Face with Barry
"My most vivid memory of my time visiting with Obama was the way he strongly argued a rather simple-minded version of Marxist theory. I remember he was passionate about his point of view. As I remember, he was articulating the same Marxist theory taught by various professors at Occidental College. Based on my more detailed studies at Cornell, I remember I made a strong argument that his Marxist ideas were not in line with contemporary reality - particularly the practical experience of Western Europe.
"What is significant to me now, in retrospect, was the way he conceded to my argument. At the time, I remember that this was an early victory in my life...the ability to make a powerful, fact-based argument that changed minds. In retrospect, I don't know if he was just trying to restore peace...my gut feeling is that I persuaded him - at the very least - that his education at Occidental College was not really up-to-date or terribly valuable."
Drew still believes Obama is a socialist. In his most mild version, he is a follower of John Rawls. Rawls wrote a book called "Theory of Justice" in which he argued for less inequality via more affirmative action. In it, Rawls argued that, if people could pick a future society without knowing their position in it, they would pick a socialist society with less income inequality. Rawls termed this argument the "Veil of Ignorance." It is this belief in John Brawl’s ideas that explains why Obama is not tacking to the center. It also explains why he had comfortable relationships with Alice Palmer and Bill Ayers.
Roger Drew taught with Boesche at Williams College. Based on this experience, Drew knows that Boesche was a socialist and an ardent follower of John Rawls in the mid 1980s.
Is Obama the power behind or the face of the revolution? Is Obama sincere in his beliefs? As most conservatives consider socialism patently evil, it is difficult for them to conceive how any American could honestly hold an opposing view. In fact, 53% of Democrats have a positive view of socialism. While Obama’s initial support came from leftist college professors and Marxists in his community. Their views are sincerely held not a posture and a majority of Democrats are sympathetic to those beliefs. Obama would not have attracted his key base of support without socialism being a core belief.. He is not just a face but a charismatic figure of the movement. Not only was he raised as a red diaper baby but, by his sophomore year, he was holding radical Marxist views that were unsusual for someone his age.
Gallup - Many Americans View Socialism Positively
Will Obama tack to the cenrer to try and hold onto power? If one has a John Rawls mindset that income equality is unfair, then you would do everything possible to equalize it. Obama would rather be a one term president than compromise those beliefs.
From a Marxist perspective, the careers that allow one to keep ones integrity are fairly limited: Labor union activist, community organizer, college professor and/or civil rights attorney. These careers tend to have a natural progression that leads to politics. Obama wanted to be president from a young age.
The irony of charismatic leader is that they only can be charismatic in certain settings. The secret is the support group. Obama's main support at Occidental was his wealthy patron, Mohamed Hasan Chandoo. Drew thought Obama was gay and wealthy because of the nice clothes that he wore and his closeness to Chandoo. Chandoo's money allowed him to project a large presence due to the big house, large parties, clothing and lifestyle. Without money, Barak was not able project the same charismatic presence at Columbia. Obama learned to seek out and befriend the wealthy wherever he went
When Barak was an Adjunct Professor at University of Chicago, he promoted socialist revolutionary ideas. He argued that the constitution guarantees negative not positive liberties such a redistribution of wealth. It was an argument from a socialist perspective.
Van Jones is the tip of the iceberg as far as Barak Obama's Marxist associations go. Rev Wright, besides his religion, is a committed Marxist. Alice Palmer got him state senate seat. Barak, the young Marxist communist could fit comfortably in the living room of Bernadine Dohrn and Bill Ayers as the held is initial campaign meeting. He was even influenced by his own mother.
Last time Dr. Drew saw Obama was at a party held at Chandoo and Obama's house to celebrate Chandoo's graduation. There was not more than a handful of African American students. It is a myth of the Obama campaign that young Obama had deep roots in the African American community. Instead Obama's friendships were with the Pakistani foreign students, Marxists and structural feminists.

Carlos Egan died before the real internet age so there is little information out there on him. Below is an article regarding his death:
"Carleton professor believed to be among Honduran crash victims"
Star Tribune: Newspaper of the Twin Cities - Tuesday, October 24, 1989
Author: Suzanne P. Kelly; Staff Writer
Carlos Egan , a 40-year-old political science professor at Carleton College in Northfield, Minn., is believed to be among 131 people killed Saturday in the crash of an airliner in Honduras.
Grow said Egan came to Carleton this fall as a one-year replacement for a faculty member who had taken a leave of absence. He was returning from a trip to Nicaragua to visit his fiancee when he was killed. Egan’s fiancee, Gloria Bacon, is the artistic director of the Modern Dance Company of Nicaragua.
Egan had been scheduled to return to the United States on Oct. 16, but was bumped from several flights.
Egan, an Argentinian, has been a consultant to the U.S. State Department, the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Commission on U.S.-Latin Relations and the American Assembly Association of U.S. Attorneys General.
Before joining Carleton’s faculty he taught at Williams College in Massachusetts and Occidental College in California, the University of California at San Diego and the University of California at Berkeley.
Carleton officials said Egan is survived by his parents, who live in Wilmington, Del.

NYT, Op Ed, 01/17/2009, The Occidental Tourist From the article: WHEN Barack Obama made his first public speech — on Feb. 18, 1981, exhorting the trustees of Occidental College to divest from South Africa — he wasn’t the only speaker. He wasn’t the featured speaker. He wasn’t even the best speaker. But the event crystallized the key values Occidental promoted, which helped shape the man making history this week: critical thought and social justice. A few months after the rally at Coons Hall, he left to finish his degree at Columbia, having decided to pursue public policy — in large part, he later said, because of his involvement in the divestment movement. His closest friends had just graduated. His activism had been ignited. And as an aspiring writer, he’d immersed himself in literature with the kind of Talmudic dedication that, I’m convinced, ultimately made him a brilliant speaker. If Occidental’s goal was to make us deep thinkers with a concern for justice and community, Barack Obama earned the degree."
Mifflin Article, Feminist.com, "Teaching Daughters About Lollipop Politics: There is nothing like riding around the suburbs with your twelve year old daughter listening to "Lil Wayne" rapping about oral sex to get those Bush Hating, talk to your daughter about graphic sex liberal juices flowing. From the article: "It’s my daughter’s age, of course, that poses a problem. Like so many public schools that were muzzled in the Bush era, hers has almost no sex-ed." "I explained that as long as she’s going to hear about oral sex on the radio, I want her to understand what it is, why it’s done, and when and if it’s right to do it. She shot me an angry smile, and said, “You know, you’re the only mom who talks about this stuff.”"

Here is an article with an extensive list of Obama's contacts at Occidental:The Birther Movement (And Other Follies) In The Age of Barack Obama–OFGS is now closed on weekends. Thank you.
Although I disagree with the author's premise and his/her potty mouth:
"You know, I could tolerate these wingers a whole lot more if they weren’t such goddamned liars. What kind of hatred twists people into denying another’s life?"
Many of the issues surrounding Obama's history are his own fault. While promising openness, he has consistently refused to release even basic records. Further, in the numerous articles from established publications that I read when researching this topic, it was common place for the reporter to note that acquaintances of Obama had been asked by his campaign not to speak to anyone on the subject.
