2016 by filmmaker Dinesh D'Souza. D'Souza is one of the top grossing documentaries of all time:
In fact, 2016 is the second highest grossing political documentary of all time surpassed only by Michael Moore's Fehrenheit 9/11:
It’s a heated contest between conservatives vs liberals in the political documentary genre, too. 2016 Obama’s America grossed $26.2M by end of today (give or take some bucks) and passed 4 of Michael Moore’s five political documentaries to become the #2 all-time biggest.....2016 Obama’s America also has passed the box office for Al Gore’s and Davis Guggenheim’s An Inconvenient Truth (2006 – $24.1M) and is the #1 biggest-grossing conservative political documentaries ever (besting Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed’s $7.7M).
1) The basic thesis of the film is that Obama is driven by his father's anti-colonial ideology
Anti-colonialism was the great movement outside of Western civilization in the 3rd world in the last hundred years. The British Empire controlled a quarter of the real estate on the planet. Then you had all these indepence movements in Africa and Asia and South America and out of this came an ideology: The ideology was that the rich countries got rich by invading, occupying and stealing from the poor countries. Right away you have the idea that wealth is not earned. It is not the result of entrepaneurship. It is the result of theft. So that is the first thing, that that money has to be given back not just domestically but on a global scale.
The second idea is that Europe is no longer the leader that the baton has passed to America so we, America, are the bad guys. This is neo-colonialism since we are not actually occupying those countries. The idea is that we are using our economic and cultural powers to continue colonialism even when the British and French armies went home. So the second part of anti-colonialism is that you have go to put the leash on America not just on American wealth but on American power around the world.
That was the ideology of Barak Obama Sr., Barack Obama's dad. In the film we match it up against the actions of the son.
2) Obama is a Globalist not concerned with America's interests but, instead, pushing to reduce America's global footprint.
