Early Obama: The Harvard Years

"Just remember, folks, nobody reads it." - Barak Obama, Editor, Harvard Law Review (4).

Although it was not intended in this context; with this quote, Obama could have been utilizing his vaunted eloquence to neatly summarize a lot of issues swirling around the selection of him by his peers  to edit one of the most prestigious law journals in the country.

For Obama, Harvard Law School was never about becoming a lawyer. It was all a stepping stone on his journey to become the President of the Unites States. In his memoirs, Obama states that his purpose for attending Harvard was to "learn power's currency in all its intricacy," with the goal of "making large-scale change" as a national politician (5).
